Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the publisher of the Newtrition Android application (package name io.newtrition.app) (“Newtrition”, “we”) handles information in the first public release. That release is an on-device product. It does not create a Newtrition account and it does not use Newtrition servers for normal use.

These pages describe the shipped app. They are not legal advice. If we later offer a cloud or account mode, this policy will be updated before that mode is publicly reachable.

1. Who this applies to

This policy applies to the Newtrition Android app and to these public pages on newtrition.io. Visiting this website may produce ordinary web-server or host logs (for example IP address and user-agent) under that host’s practices. The app itself does not need this website to calculate nutrition or store your diary.

2. What the app stores on your device

Data you enter is stored in app-private storage on that phone (local SQLite and related preferences), including:

• Profile used for targets: display name, birth year, sex, height, weight, activity level, goal, and optional target weight
• Meals, custom foods, and calculated calorie / macro values
• Water, weight, and step entries you type in
• Assistant chat history and any replies you flag with “report”

Diet-preference questionnaires, photos of food, voice recordings, barcodes, Health Connect / wearable data, and advertising identifiers are not collected in this version. A reserved install_id key is not written in this version. If it is ever present, “Delete all local data” removes it. File/schema metadata that may remain after delete-all is limited to schema_version and db_created_at_utc (not a user or advertising id).

3. What we do not collect from the app

In this version, Newtrition does not operate an account, cloud sync, or Newtrition backend for everyday use. The app does not send your profile, meals, metrics, or chat to Newtrition, to advertising networks, or to language-model APIs as part of normal operation.

There is no Newtrition analytics SDK. Android backup is disabled (allowBackup=false), so Google Drive app backup is not used for this app’s data.

4. Permissions and platform services

This version does not request camera, microphone, media-library, or notification permission for Newtrition features. Voice input, photo meal analysis, and barcode lookup are not shipped.

The Android package may still declare INTERNET and include dormant third-party libraries (for example Google Play / Firebase components) that are not initialised for a Newtrition cloud session. Application-owned HTTP used by Newtrition features is blocked while the app is in local mode. Operating-system or plugin traffic, if any, is outside Newtrition’s application logic.

5. Assistant

The in-app Assistant answers from your on-device totals and targets using deterministic templates. This version does not ship a generative language model on the device or in the cloud.

6. How long data stays on the device

Meals, water, weight, steps, and chat older than 365 days are deleted from the device automatically. You can also clear chat, clear nutrition history, or delete all local data in Settings. Uninstalling the app removes app-private files on that device.

7. Sharing

Newtrition does not sell your diary and does not share it with advertisers or AI providers in this version. If you export or share a file yourself (for example through the Android share sheet), that copy leaves the app under your control.

Google Play, your device vendor, and your network operator may process technical data under their own policies when you install or run any Android app.

8. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13. Do not enter another person’s health information unless you are permitted to do so.

9. Health information

Profile, weight, and meal logs can be sensitive. They stay on the device in this version. Newtrition is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or replace professional medical advice.

10. Changes

If the product starts transmitting user data off the device, we will update this policy and the Play Data Safety form before that behaviour is publicly reachable. The “Last updated” date above shows the current revision.

11. Contact

For privacy questions about this app, use the Newtrition listing on Google Play (package io.newtrition.app). There is no in-app account to email and no web “delete account” form, because this version has no account.
